The following submitted by Roger Shaver: The weekend went very well. The run out took us to Craters of the Moon and to lunch in Arco. We did a Craters loop drive with short side hikes to lava features. We sped past Mount Borah and along the main Salmon in to the small town of Salmon. The Stage Coach Inn is quiet and comfortable, right on the fast-running river and within walking distance of Main Street. There was a small Farmer's Market too. Friday night we had a nice dinner and entertainment at the Sacajawea Center. Saturday afternoon was the usual car show, held at the Sacajawea center parking lot. There was a nice variety of cars this year, even though we missed some regulars. A local rolling restoration project was my highlight, a '58 Hillman Minx rescued from the breaker. Saturday dinner was at the Broken Arrow, fine Mexican food. The restaurant was a pleasant run down river about 30 miles, light traffic allowed for some fun, coming and going. Sunday morning was the parting of the ways. Most were opting for the backwoods return trip via Challis-Stanley-Lowman. Some of the Triumphs from Washington were headed for Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore. I had a pleasant drive, alone on the road for the first hours and then with light traffic to Banks. From there 55 was busy into Eagle. My favorite summer Tour so far, great driving, good food and company, and some interesting stopping points.

ADJUSTING THE VALVES ON AN XK ENGINEHi Folks, I decide to take on the task of setting the valve clearances on my '68 Jag this week. In the hopes that this might help others facing the same project I thought I would describe the process as it applies to my '68 4.2 L XK engine. EMISSIONS TESTING FOR 75-80 TRIUMPHSThe following was sent to us from Gary Kunz. Could be good info for you if you have a 75-80 Triumph! The testing facility will enter the year of all 75-80 triumphs as 74 in their equipment so the vehicle will be tested to the 74 standard. They will only do this though if you have the letter which is why I thought to post it on the web. Share it with everyone. I only found out about it after I failed my initial test and called for an extension. I called early in the morning, before the receptionist arrived, and talked to someone who know about the letter so he sent it to me. He did indicate that when the letter first came out they distributed it to all the car clubs. When I had my car tested the second time the tester knew about the letter but couldn't volunteer the information. You have to have the letter in order for them to enter the lower year in their equipment. The pre 74 standard is 5% CO vs. 3% for the post 74 and 900 HC(ppm) vs. 700HC(ppm) so the difference is significant. IBCC BY-LAWSYou will need Adobe Reader to open this file.
