Ye Olde Rallye Results:

On Sunday morning of the Summer Tour, twentytwo intrepid contenders motored out of the Tamarack resort on either of two routes for the Dougherty-designed rallye. The rallye routes overlapped in opposite directions, so those in the middle of the pack often passed other British cars going the other way! Competitors had to navigate their route while providing correct answers to ten questions.  Answers were generally found on signposts along the route, so navigators and drivers alike had to look sharp! Watching for answers was no easy task, since it required tearing one’s eye away from the pastoral views of beautiful mountain scenery, wildflowers, and grazing cattle. Nevertheless, the contestants managed to answer most questions, including the trick question, which required competitors to identify a carved wooden bear cub climbing up a pole. The answer? A “pole-r” bear of course!  Competition was very close, but our guests from Washington, Sam & Pat Bass, won First Place by pointing out that there are not two houses “on” Paddy Flat road—the houses are “alongside” the road! In a close Second Place were Rod & Becky Nichols, followed by new members John & Karen Bries in Third. Once again, Terry Thompson won the “Abducted by Aliens” award for the most wrong (and creative) answers.  The rallye was followed by brunch at the McCall Golf Course. Although we waited a few minutes for food, most attendees thought the tasty and plentiful food was worth the wait!
